Katniss's Hunger Games Wedding Dress

Filmed in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, the most amazing scene in the movie is Katniss Everdeen's wedding dress. It catches fire and reveals a beautiful mocking jay dress. Rumor has it...Trish Summerville designed the dress and the gown represents flames. This is a beautiful dress meant for someone who is unique in character and style.

While observing her peoples hunger and poverty, Katniss Everdeen is trying to survive President Snow's threat involving her love story with Peeta Mellark. To help convince society they're in love, Katniss and Peeta staged their engagement to wed and it was to be for all to see. Snow grew impatient with this story and made all winning tributes enter a new season in the Hunger Games and as always, during new episodes of the show, they have an introduction with Caesar Flickerman for the opening games.

President Snow forced Katniss to wear the wedding dress as the opening act on the show and in the end it wasn't a good day after the revelation of what the entire dress's truth is.

Katniss spends around and as the dress catches fire, it reveals beautiful wings of a mockingjay! Both dresses are beautiful with the true meaning of who Katniss Everdeen is. As mentioned in the movie the wedding did not take place because districts knew it was a story line no one believed. Katniss is feeling the pressure to protect her family and Peeta. While realizing how cruel Snow is, the wedding dress is part of the rebellion he fears. As mentioned in the book:

Traditional Bridal Style: The initial look of the dress is elegant and classic, befitting a Capitol wedding. It is white, voluminous, and heavily adorned with ruffles and intricate details. The fabric gleams and moves gracefully, giving it a royal, opulent feel.

Transformation Into the Mockingjay: When Katniss spins, the dress burns away (symbolically, not literally) into a black, feathered gown resembling a mockingjay. This symbolizes Katniss's defiance of the Capitol and her role as a leader in the rebellion. The feathers are sleek, dark, and shimmering, evoking the wings of a bird in flight.

Having a custom made dress, that resembles your truth and body and soul is a wonderful idea for any wedding. You can personally work with a seamstress who will Delight in creating the most amazing wedding dress for you. Your personal style should be celebrated on your wedding day, as it did for Katniss at the Flickerman show, the truth of who you are should be revealed in your time spent creating a perfect look.
